Loganair will fly its last Dundee to London Heathrow service on 23 October 2026. The route has run under a public service obligation since 2014, according to Travel Weekly, and Loganair has said the contract became "financially unsustainable".

What is ending

AeroRoutes lists the route at 11 weekly flights on the ATR 42 until 23 October 2026. ch-aviation gives the pattern: twice daily on weekdays and once on Sundays, which makes 11 a week. ch-aviation names the aircraft as the ATR 42-500, the smaller sibling of the ATR 72.

The Heathrow flights themselves are newer than the support behind them. AeroRoutes recorded the Dundee to Heathrow service as 11 weekly ATR 42 flights effective 6 May 2023, in a 2023 schedule note, so the route has gone to Heathrow for a little under three and a half years by the final flight.

The end date moved. Travel Weekly reports that Loganair had previously indicated the service would end in September before it confirmed 23 October.

What it leaves Dundee with

ch-aviation reports that Loganair is currently the only airline serving Dundee Airport, and that the end of the Heathrow route will leave Dundee without any air services. Loganair also flies from Dundee to Kirkwall and to Sumburgh, and Travel Weekly says closing the Dundee base will affect those links to Orkney and Shetland.

None of the reports above mentions a replacement. What can be said is the schedule: after 23 October there is no Dundee to Heathrow flight to catch.

The ATR 42 I caught on both legs

On 27 September 2026, one ATR 42-500 crossed my BBBRadar screen twice. G-LMRD showed first as LOG56LK, Dundee to Heathrow, at 11,000 feet. It showed again later as LOG65KL, Heathrow to Dundee, at 8,575 feet. The route is on the screen's label both times, so the same airframe is on record flying both directions of the route that is about to end.

For a spotter, the end date is the useful part: a regional route with a hard stop is easy to miss until it has gone.
