Emirates has filed a limited-time A380 deployment on its Dubai to Dusseldorf route for the Northern winter 2026/27 season, according to AeroRoutes, which published the schedule on 3 October 2026. The A380 is scheduled from 1 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, which is 62 days.

What changes, and what doesn't

Emirates flies the route twice a day. The A380 takes one of those two rotations and replaces a Boeing 777-300ER on it. The other rotation stays on the 777-300ER.

The schedule AeroRoutes lists is:

  • EK055 Dubai to Dusseldorf, A380, departs 08:20, arrives 12:30
  • EK056 Dusseldorf to Dubai, A380, departs 14:30
  • EK057 Dubai to Dusseldorf, 777-300ER, departs 14:40, arrives 18:55
  • EK058 Dusseldorf to Dubai, 777-300ER, departs 20:45

AeroRoutes describes it as a limited-time service, and airline schedules do change, so treat the dates and times as filed rather than guaranteed.

How to spot it on a tracker

Whichever tracker you use, the aircraft type shows as A388 for the A380-800. It has four engines and a full-length upper deck, and it is the only airliner with both. If you watch Dusseldorf arrivals, the A380 rotation is the morning one, EK055, landing around 12:30 local time on the schedule above.

On a live ADS-B display the A380 stands out in a different way. A catch on the BBBRadar desk unit on 27 September showed a British Airways A380, G-XLEB, passing at 11,825 feet as BAW2X. Another showed G-XLEB at 8,050 feet as BAW7D, London to Los Angeles. The type code is the thing to look for, whoever operates it.

Why it is worth a look

A large aircraft on a route usually flown by a smaller one is the kind of schedule detail that is easy to miss and easy to enjoy. It is also time-limited, so the 62-day window is the point. If you live under the Dusseldorf approach or the airway between there and the Gulf, the swap gives you a reason to look up around lunchtime.
